She died at Alexandria Hospital from typhoid, which she contracted while tending her patients.

"We are living in a nurses home, a huge place. New Khedivial Hotel, but cannot tell you what street it is in. These French names get me tangled up. This hospital used to be kept by German Sisters but of course is wholly British now."
