Your great true love

Harry Norton was killed in action on 15 September 1916, at Flanders. His family were not informed of his death for 5-6 weeks, and continued to write to him. Their letters were returned marked with 'deceased'. Harry wrote to his wife everyday - his letters are very descriptive and personal.

Extract from this letter

"Large red poppies growing everywhere & pushing up their long stems above the grass. There are several large trees of orange blossom, and my thoughts go back to our Wedding day my own sweetheart .... Flowers, Flowers, glorious Flowers. I have not told you half about them and you will perhaps think me a 'molly coddle', but Dear heart they make me think of your great true love for me and so I have written from my heart, which has & always will be yours forever."
