Albert ('AJ') Newton was killed in action on the Somme, 27 September 1916.

"I am going back to France tomorrow ...I have had a good look round and have seen most of the principal sights ... Nearly every night I have been to the theatre the tickets being provided by this club. I had my photo taken today and I have arranged for them (1/2 doz) to be sent on to you..."
